At 15:44 hrs. Stations 43 and 39 were dispatched for the possible vehicle fire northbound at mile marker 17.3 of I-476. Pennsylvania State Police arrived and reported a minivan fully involved. Deputy Chief 43 (Maxwell) arrived shortly after and confirmed with the engine compartment well off. Squad 39-1 arrived first and went into service to knock the bulk of the fire. Squirt 43 arrived after making their way through rush hour traffic to complete the extinguishment and overhaul of the vehicle. Rescue 43 staged at the on ramp of I-476. Units were on scene for about 30 minutes before being recalled and returning to service.
